Obsidian is a powerful knowledge management and note-taking software that allows users to create and organize notes in a highly flexible and interconnected manner.

Obsidian stores notes locally on the user's device. This provides greater control over data and enhances privacy and security. However, if you have a Synology NAS, you can actually keep your notes on it, and access it from different devices. The notes are in a folder called vault. It can be placed inside a Synology Drive synchronized folder.

However, even though the main notes synchronize, the configuration files needed for proper note management, do not.

When opening your Synology Drive client, and clicking on details to see the Logs, you will notice that some folders (such us .trash or .obsidian) are not syncing. By default, Synology Drive client does not sync files with a "." prefix.

The fix is to open the Sync Rules, and making sure Sync files and folders with the prefix "." is checked.
